I believe that all Business Owners, especially new ones, need to work “On Their Business” rather than “In Their Business”. This means that Owners need to work on their own their Business, Products and Services rather than on the administration side of their businesses, such as the financial paperwork. Financial Paperwork can take up a significant amount of time which could be more beneficially spent on developing the business itself or the business' products and services. I like to know the Business and the products & services of that Business that I am doing the Financial Books with. This will help to improve productivity, profitability and cash flow. For Small & Medium Businesses I believe positive Cash Flow is the most important rather than Profitability. Also, knowing the Business helps me give a more Personal Bookkeeping Service than other Bookkeepers especially the large Accounting Firms such as H & R Block.
