Why choose Janani Health?
Whilst working as a paramedic in London over the years, I have witnessed both the triumphs and pitfalls in our western medical system. It has become clear to me that medicine's tendency to view the body as a machine, with each system viewed separately from the whole, is fundamentally flawed.
A few years ago, during a night shift, whilst looking for a new podcast to occupy me between calls, I stumbled across a term I had never heard before; Ayurveda. I quickly fell in love with the philosophy of Ayurveda.
The way the human body and mind is explained through the doshas just seemed to make so much sense. Another aspect important to me is that Ayurveda does not disregard other medical systems, honouring the necessary roles western (and other) medicine plays in our lives. I soon enrolled to study Ayurveda for myself through the Ayurveda Institute UK, and spent the next year learning about this ancient science. Ayurveda has changed the way I see my patients, and has given me a deeper understanding of the root causes of disease. The other thing Ayurveda has taught me, is the importance of the mind-body connection.
Beginning to grasp the idea of the mind-body connection, I developed the understanding that our thoughts, emotions and actions create energy frequencies, and this energy can at times create a barrier to achieving a life free of 'dis-ease'. This notion is what lead me to Reiki where I soon completed both levels 1 and 2 in Usui Reiki through East London Reiki.
Since returning to Australia, I have also completed my Reiki Master Teacher qualification through Reiki Restore. Reiki is a gentle and deeply relaxing energy healing technique, it is completely safe and suitable for anyone.
I am currently studying a 350 hour yoga teacher training which I hope to complete early 2021. I have been a student of yoga for many years and have a passion for slow but strong yoga flows. I love the way yoga can help people experience their bodies in new ways, create awareness and control of the breath and ultimately help to understand the mind and enable the student to build a moving meditation practice. Yoga has been so helpful in my life, and is really where my spiritual journey and love for traditional healing therapies began.
